All normal Branch events including Aquatherapy and Yoga sessions are cancelled until further notice, awaiting government instruction.

Friday Branch meetings are being held via Zoom video conferencing. See emails to members with access link each month.

                                Speaker Arn Dekker - The Cambridge Peace Trail.

                                Arn Dekker, originally from The Netherlands has lived and worked in the Cambridge area for over 45 years.  He has an interest in peace and social justice and is associated with several organisations working in that field, through which he learnt about Peace Trails. These connect sites in a town or city that have associations with Peace and Social Justice.  There are several Trails in this country and Arn set about to establish one for Cambridge.  He found that Cambridge has been a very fertile environment for Peace and Social Justice campaigners and believes that their efforts should be made more widely known. This is a very topical subject and we welcome Arn to our first Virtual Branch Meeting.

                               We are delighted to announce Dr Michelle Ware of CambBioScience will talk to us on the intriguing subject of: ‘'From Research to Event Organising."
Michelle is Head of Courses and Conferences at CamBioScience will be talking about her post-doctorate research work into Huntingdon’s Disease with reference to sleep and circadian rhythms and will also cover her current role with CamBioScience organising training events and conferences for scientists.

This meeting signals a special occasion for the Branch. We have been selected to host our Chief Executive, Steve Ford. He wants to meet up with members to find out, first hand, how PwP, their families and carers are coping during Covid-19.

Fri 23 Oct                 Virtual Branch Cuppa and Cake Meeting via Zoom from 10.30. Speakers at 10.45 Danielle Duffill with an update on the Specialist Parkinson Nursing Team and at 11.00 Kate Kirk, Chair of the Arthur Rank Hospice. Kate is also the niece of Cicely Saunders who was involved in the founding of the hospice movement.

 

         

Fri 6 Nov                  Virtual Branch Cuppa and Cake Meeting via Zoom from 10.30. A catch up and natter meeting!

 

 

Fri 27 Nov                Virtual Branch Cuppa and Cake Meeting via Zoom from 10.30. At 10.45 Hannah Smith will talk about and demonstrate her exercise group sessions at the Peterborough Branch. Then at 11.00 Lisa Lowe, our Parkinson’s UK Regional Volunteer Organiser, will talk on World War One Artefacts.  Lisa’s family history has led her to develop this interest and she will invite us to identify objects from her collection and talk about what these objects tell us about life in the trenches.

 

 

Fri 11 Dec                Christmas Virtual Branch Cuppa and Cake Meeting via Zoom from 10.30. Including live music from local musician and singer-songwriter, Tom Bryans on classical guitar. Make sure the mince pie and drink you have are definitely not virtual !
